The registered investor shall be required to fill an Application Form (PPB-2) along with the following documents at the time of encashment.

2. Legible copy of valid CNIC Pakistan
3. Any other document (if any) as specified from time to time.

What will happen in case a Premium Prize Bond is lost?

In case of loss of Premium Prize Bonds, the investor is required to personally visit the Office of Issue and report the loss of instruments by submitting an application form, copy of FIR / NC. After necessary verification, the Office will issue new Premium Prize Bonds of same Face Value with different numbers in the name of same investor.

Is Zakat and Withholding Tax applicable to Premium Prize Bonds profit and prizemoney?

No, the Prize Bonds are exempted from compulsory deduction of Zakat, but when any prize bond number won a prize then Govt of Pakistan will Deduct 15% from winning amount if you are active Tax Payer otherwise, they will deduct 30%.

If a winner wants to cash its winning prize bond number from a local shop, then the local shops can charge 150 to 200 rupees per number, but it is better to cash the prize bond from a local shop because if we cash it from national bank then it will take 30 minutes to do all the process.

Can we claim prize money of damaged bond?

Yes, you can claim damaged or colored Bonds from national bank but its process of encashment is 4 to 6 months, the Local Prize Bonds Dealers can also cash this damaged prize bond but they will charge extra according to the conditions of Prize Bond.

You can draw any winning Prize Bond in 5 Years after its winning date.

History of Prize Bonds in Pakistan

Prize Bond is basically a lottery bond offered by the National Savings Pakistan (Ministry of Finance) and issued on behalf of the Government of Pakistan.

As an agent for the Pakistani government, State Bank of Pakistan started selling Prize Bonds under the "National Prize Bonds" program on October 1st, 1960. On July 1, 1999, the prize bond program was resurrected with six denominations under the name National Prize Bonds. Two additional denominations were introduced in 2012. Following its establishment as a fully owned subsidiary of SBP on January 2, 2002, the work related to the sale, encashment, holding draws, paying prize money for the National Prize Bonds scheme, and other saving instruments of the Federal Government or of a Provincial Government was transferred to SBP Banking Services Corporation (Bank) Karachi. Currently, the 16 field offices of SBP BSC (Bank), National Savings Centers of the Central Directorate of National Savings, and authorized Schedule Bank branches oversee the National Prize Bond activities (CDNS).

It is also important to note that bonds may only be sold through SBP BSC offices, Authorized Commercial Banks, and National Savings Centers in accordance with the Prize Bond Rules of 1999. Section 489G of the Pakistan Penal Code 1860 (issued in the Gazette 6, 2012) prohibits the sale of prize bonds by an unlicensed body or the sale of documents that resemble prize bonds.

In Pakistan, Prize Bonds are issued in appropriate series, with a 1,000,000 bond (one million numbers) maximum for each series.
